Description: The Candidate should be an engineer of recognized standing, preferably licensed, and a citizen of Texas. Eligibility should be restricted to engineers who have made sustained and significant contributions to the advancement of the profession and/or mankind.

Young Engineer of the Year

Description: This award recognizes a young TSPE member who has made outstanding contributions to the engineering profession and the community during the early years of one’s career.

Any licensed Professional Engineer (PE), Engineering Intern (EI), or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and NSPE/TSPE member in good standing, who is 34 years of age or younger as of January 1, 2024 is eligible for nomination. In addition to this year’s submittals, the three applicants receiving the highest score from last year’s submittals are considered, assuming they continue to meet all other criteria.

Future Engineer Award

Description: Are you a high school student interested in becoming an engineer? Do you understand what it takes to be an engineer? Do you want to establish a network with practicing engineers? If so, we would like to hear from you.

Please participate in our essay contest, and the winner will be recognized and awarded $100 cash at the 2024 TSPE Banquet held in Lubbock, Texas. The winner will have the opportunity to network with members of TSPE, and other premier engineering companies in the Lubbock area.

Trailblazer Award

Description: Projects must be located or developed within a 90-mile radius of Lubbock, Texas.

Any engineered project, product, or invention. Environmental, transportation, community development, public/private building, industrial facilities, electrical/electronics, computer system, software, or mechanical system.

Visioneer Award

Description: Someone who has contributed to the advancement of the engineering profession by supporting a vision of the future of engineering, educating tomorrow’s engineers, and/or fostering an environment for engineers to thrive.

The candidate can be an educator, community leader, consultant, builder, business leader, or any other individual.

Excellence Award

Description: This award is given yearly to members who are promoting TSPE’s mission and goals in their geographic area, throughout the state, or nationally. These are prestigious awards established to recognize a member who, in addition to fulfilling their duties as a leader, committee member, or member, has taken their role to another level and whose accomplishments should be promoted across the state organization. Nominations will be evaluated based on the member’s success in promoting TSPE’s mission and goals; their ingenuity; and their relevance to the geographic area in which they are located or to the state overall. Self-nominations will be accepted provided the requirements above are met. Additional background information may be needed by the committee to assist in the selection process. Three nominees will be notified, and invited to the Wednesday, February 19, 2025 banquet. The award recipient will be kept confidential until the presentation is made at the banquet.
